What is Stephen Ministry?
Stephen Ministry is a distinctively Christian ministry based on the biblical principle that Christ cared for people through people. The Stephen Ministry Organization has been researching, consulting, working with pastors, mental health professionals as well as lay leaders in Stephen Ministry congregations, to continually refine, improve and update the care system since 1975.
Stephen Ministry gives our congregation a structured and reliable path to reflect Jesus's love to those who are hurting, via this high-quality lay caring ministry.
What is a Stephen Minister?
Stephen Ministers are congregation members who are recruited, selected, trained, and commissioned to provide one-on-one care to people in our congregation and community who are experiencing life difficulties. Christ is the source of hope and healing that Stephen Ministers offer to their care receivers. A Stephen Minister is an effective Care Giver for people who are hurting, but God the the Cure Giver.
The Stephen Ministry System
Very simply, Stephen Ministry works - and it gets powerful results. It strengthens congregations by getting lay people involved in ministry, promoting discipleship, and deepening spiritual growth. It increases and enhances the caring ministry capacity of our congregation, while reducing the burden on pastors. It directly correlates to our Bayside Santa Rosa Mission.
